A fact that every affiliate need to know that most of us aren't exposed to.
There are three categories of people in affiliate marketing.
I've seen all of them and I've been all of them. That are the POSERS, the AMATEURS, and the PROFESSIONALS.
POSERS
POSERS treat this profession as a lottery ticket. They're hoping to hit it big with as little effort as possible. When I started affiliate marketing I was an example of a poser.
AMATEURS
Amateurs focus on different things. one of the things I focused on as an amateur was l luck.
I was really hoping to get as many affiliate on board without even putting in as much as minimal effort.
The second thing I focused on was timing as an amateur.
Did I get in early enough? could I be the youngest top level affiliate in the business? How many other leaders were already in the business before I got there? We're there to many to compete against? I was obsessed with idea of timing.
The third was positioning.
Did other people's have a better position than me? I always asked myself all of these questions.
And then I finally decided to go pro
My definition of a Digital Marketing Professional is "A person who is an expert at the skills required to build a large and successful digital marketing organization".
There is a phrase In our profession that does us more harm than good it says, "Ignorance on fire is better than knowledge on ice".
"The point of this phrase is that it is better to be excited and ignorant than it is to be apathetic and smart. That may be true but why do we have to pick one or the other".
My pick is "enthusiasm and knowledge as there are both important factors if you want to grow as an affiliate and a professional.
Bottom line guys if you're going to be involved in this great business, decide to do it right and treat it like a profession. Because staying a poser or amateur will make you miserable okay.
